The History of the Centre d'entraînement Gaétan-Boucher (CEGB)
Named in honor of a speed skating and Quebec sports legend, and four-time Olympic medalist Quebec City's native, the CEGB provides a support structure aligned with the long-term athlete development model, while respecting individual academic and personal pathways.
The CEGB hosts about 100 athletes during the winter season and up to 170 during the summer season, all active at the provincial and national levels, including members of Team Quebec and the National Team.
For nearly 30 years, the National Training Centre in Quebec has supported the best Quebec long track speed skaters, empowering them to achieve their full potential. Represented within the National Team and the Next Gen National Team, this group represents the highest level of athlete development.
Academy
Dedicated to full-time athletes, whether in long track, short track, or a hybrid program combining both disciplines, the Academy offers a structure that enables athletes to develop in a healthy and balanced way under dynamic and personalized guidance.
Canadian athletes from other provinces, as well as international athletes who meet the established criteria, are also eligible to join the Academy.
